Miss America

Maya is a lifelong lover of the Miss America Organization. A few years ago, Maya decided to take a chance at chasing her dreams and entered her first local competition. She placed 1st runner up at her first local and has been hooked ever since. 

Within the Miss America Organization, each candidate must have a talent to present to the panelist. Maya's talent is a speed painting presentation! She is best known for painting Michael Jackson upside down in under a minute and thirty seconds. After the state competition in June of 2022, Maya uploaded a video of her talent to Tik Tok. She received over 3.3 million views and a comment from Miss America 2017, Savvy Shields! 

Maya earned the title of Miss Lighthouse Coast 2022 and competed at the 2022 Miss Michigan Competition. She placed in top 10 and was the winner of the Kaye Lani Rafko-Wilson Community Service award. 

In July 2022, Maya earned the title of Miss Spirit of the State. She has been very busy with her year of service and looks forward to competing at Miss Michigan again in June 2023.  She also had the opportunity to watch the 2023 Miss America Competition in person this year, which was one of the most eye opening and inspiring experiences she has ever had. 

Maya has won over $2,600 in scholarships through the Miss America Organization.
